  1. Stave C channel side closeout gluing jig S Yang WP4 monthly meeting at Liverpool University 26th March 2014

  2. C channel gluing jig assembly

  3. Some design feature Interface to the stave building vacuum jig Interface to the co-cured face sheet Main frame CF c-channel (same as that used to build the stave) is used as a spacer. • Face sheet thickness: 0.35mm • Glue layer: 0.1mm • CF C= channel outer dimension: H5.1mm x W4.0mm (refer to Peter’s drawing)

  4. C channel tolerance Stave building vacuum jig If C-channel final height is 5.1+0.05, then the glue thickness could be only 0.05mm, so question: should C-channel tolerance be ?? Also if C-channel is on max tolerance, then there will be a gap between clamping piece and C channel inner face; that means there is no positive pressing on the C channel to the face sheet. Therefore, sufficient glue thickness is required to fill in the voids.

  5. Holes for C channel jig The width of the stave can be adjusted to 110, 115 and 120mm, by moving the top and bottom clamping pieces towards or away from the centre line of the stave .

  6. Holes for stave building tooling Dowel holes for locating the rulers for masking and gluing. For face sheet alignment

  7. Some questions about dimensions 70mm? 50mm ? 50mm?
