  3. WSJ Article – “Nestle's Lost Sweet Spot” • Why was it good for Nestle to be among the first foreign companies to do business in China? • What happened when more competitors came in to China? What types of competitors were there? • As a large multinational corporation Nestle has advantages when competing with small, local entrepreneurs. What are these? • As a large multinational corporation Nestle has disadvantages when competing with small local entrepreneurs. What are these? • Don’t just look within the article for the answers. Think about other business examples to come up with ideas.

  4. Group Activity – “Forces” • What are some of the strategies you could suggest to help a company like Nestle compete more effectively?

Week 2 • Readings • Chapter 1 – Managing • Chapter 4 – Ethics and • 4A – The legal environment • Weekly assignment • You can do whatever you want, but must it be… • Real-life example (article or personal experience) • Buzzword compliant • Thoughtful and analytical application of the concepts • Example: Find an article about a company that does a really good (or really bad) job of corporate ethics, social responsibility or legality. How does this affect the business in the short and long run?
