  2. Deccan Plateau This covers most of the Indian peninsula. Very few plants are able to grow here as it is too dry and hot.

  3. Dust Storm A wind storm that picks up sand and wipes it around.

  4. Northern Plains Located south of the Himalaya Mountains the soil is rich and fertile. Water travels from the mountains into rivers and is used to water crops. Most of the people in India live in this area.

  5. Gnat Mountains On the East and West coast of India are lower mountains called the Gnat Mountains.

  6. Tropical Rainforest Located along the equator, along its coastline and nearby islands.

  7. Monsoon A wind storm bringing a lot of rain which causes flooding that kills people and destroys crops.

  8. Himalaya Mountains Found in Northern India is the world’s highest mountain range.

  9. Thar Desert Found in the Northwest part of India it is very hot and dry here. It is a large area that may only get 5cm of rain each year and reaches temperatures of 45 degrees Celsius.
