  1. Introduction • Purpose of Roundtable Discussion: • To identify opportunities for Westfield High School (WHS) parent involvement • To discuss the focus/goals of the School Improvement Council (SIC) and Parent Advisory Council (PAC) • Introduce Roundtable Team

Parent Involvement • Attend 9th Grade Parent Orientation & Annual Open House (5 SEP 2012) • Support of School Activities • Go to school-sponsored workshops and information sessions • Stay informed (Parent newsletters, WHS website, & email) http://www.k12.westfield.ma.us/whs/index.html • Volunteer as a SIC/PAC member

  3. Focus of SIC/PAC • “Our focus as a council continues to be exploring ways in which parents are made to feel empowered to be proactive in the decisions and events of their child’s high school years, rather than reactive to situations after they have occurred.” • WHS School Improvement Plan

  4. Focus Achievement • Making information available in a timely manner • Establishing a recognizable, dependable means through which to obtain information • Having contact persons available and responsive to field questions

  5. Focus Goal • To work in a partnership with a common goal – the success of each child and his/her preparedness for life beyond WHS.

  6. WHS Upcoming Meetings • Annual Open House • 5September 2012 (6:30 PM) • School Improvement Council (SIC) • 1X/month • TBDSeptember 2012 • Parent Advisory Council (PAC) • 1X/month • TBDSeptember 2012
