  1. The Effect Of Various Seasons On The PH And Temperature In The Cove River. Conclusions The purpose of this experiment is to help investigate the impact of various seasons on the PH and temperature of water in the Cove River. The data collected in this experiment will help researchers determine the best method to use in re-growing the plants and bringing back the wildlife at the Cove River. The analysis of the temperature and PH in various seasons has yield to the following conclusions: The hypothesis, if the plants are surrounded by low temperatures and a normal PH, then the growth of the plants will decrease, because low temperatures and a normal PH will not create the environment for the plants to grow, was proven valid by the data. T he various seasons do not have a significant impact on the P.H of the water sample. Rather, the seasons had a greater impact on the temperature of the water sample. As seen by the graph, the PH. stayed at a steady average of 6.5. While temperature, has an increasing average of 15°C. The average temperature is 15° C, which is considered a low temperature and the average PH was a 6.5, which is relatively close to the normal PH of 7. By having a low temperature, this will not allow the plant to grow. Having low temperature is not an ideal environment for plants to grow. When the temperature is low, the rate of photosynthesis and respiration will also slow down. The growth of the plants will be very limited because not all plants grow in low temperatures. Having a normal PH will allow the correct surroundings for the plants to re-grow. Rain fall is a necessity for plants to grow. However, too much could become harmful because of the amount of the acid is in the rain. Rain with a high amount of acid will have a low PH, which would not be the ideal environments for plants to grow. Acidic rain contains a high amount of carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, nitrogen dioxide, and other greenhouse gases that will damage the roots of the plant. Abstract The Cove River is a freshwater body run-off that consists of many plant and animal life. There are many types of animals that depend on the Cove River for survival. The purpose of this experiment is to investigate the effect of various seasons on the PH and temperature in the Cove River. The seasons tested are fall, winter, spring, and summer. This experiment is has been tested by sampling water over various seasons throughout an extended time period. The independent variables are the various seasons. The dependent variable is the score of the temperature and the PH. The hypothesis of this experiment is if the plants are surrounded by low temperatures and a normal PH, then the growth of the plants will decrease, because low temperatures and a normal PH will not create the environment for the plants to grow. The data collected will help determine how the seasons affect the PH and temperature and how that impacts the re-growth of plants in the Cove River. This data was obtained using GLOBE PROTOCOLS. Data Table The Effect Of Various Seasons On The PH And Temperature In The Cove River. Method/Procedure Collect a water sample in the bucket from the predetermined location at Cove River. Following the collection of the water sample, use the Vernier Probe to measure the PH and temperature of the water sample immediately before the water sample is impacted by the surrounding environment. Record the PH and temperature Dispose of water sample back in to the river. Clean the probe and place it back into the case. Graph The Effect Of Various Seasons On The PH And Temperature In The Cove River. The Next Step With this research, scientist working with the Cove River can identify which season is best to re-grow the plants. With the data, research would identify that the best season to re-grow the plants is in the fall because the temperatures are balanced and the PH is normal. This creates an ideal environment for the plant to grow. The next step to identify which area of the Cove River is best in growing plants and which plants to grow. References College Board.
