  1. “The NIHR and the Issues Facing Academics in Medical Research” Professor Dame Sally C. Davies, Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Chief Scientific Advisor for the Department of Health University of NottinghamSchool of Clinical SciencesSpecial Seminar Dame Sally Davies developed the National Institute for Health Research and Chairs the UK Clinical Research Collaboration. She is a member of the Board of the Office for Strategic Coordination of Health Research and of the Medical Research Council. Dame Sally will cover her view and insight into future medical research including funding opportunities, political impact of research areas and the economy of medical research. The seminar will be preceded by a NIHR poster competition in the Medical School Foyer (15:30-17:00) with another opportunity to view the posters after the seminar. Refreshments will be provided after the seminar.
