CVES Mission Statement CVES, in partnership with local school districts and their communities, the Board of Regents and the Commissioner of Education, will be a leader in providing quality, cost-effective programs and services that support school districts and their communities to achieve higher standards through enhanced educational opportunities.

  3. CVES Vision To meet the needs and expectations of our component schools, communities and all learners who are affected by our services.

Celebrating Success: Administration Congratulations…..in 2013-14: • All 17 component districts supported the CVES Budget • Collaborative Labor Relations with Capital Region BOCES & CVES Created: Director – Rachel Rissetto • CVES is collaborative partner in P-Tech • Successful searches for Superintendents and CV-TEC Director • Shared Services Discussions/Work with Component BOE’s • DS site visits all 17 component districts and each CVES building • DS Listening Tour / Survey • Strategic Planning Initiative

Celebrating Success: CV-TEC Congratulations…..in 2013-14: • Achieved COE Accreditation • Interim Director James McCartney III • Michele Friedman appointed CV-TEC Director • Strengthened Business Collaboration • Articulation agreements with Clinton CC and NCCC • Supported and Implemented Statewide / Regional APPR Assessments

Celebrating Success: Special Education Congratulations…In 2013-14: • TCI - Division-wide Professional Development, and implementation with Fidelity • Administrative Leadership and Programs Strengthened • PBIS Support and Professional Development Provided • The Bar was Raised for our Curriculum and Common Core implementation • Collaboration and Quality Support for CSE Services

Celebrating Success: Instructional Services Center (ISC) Congratulations…..In 2013-14: • Common Core training & Module Support / Printing • 21st Century Inquiry Team support CVES-wide • Data Analysis –value and implementation strengthened • New technology team in place! Complete computer system upgrade. (Microsoft Exchange in place) • Improved Communication Services – (Video Productions for Superintendent searches, crisis communication, etc.

Maxwell • New Leadership & Goals Review (District Superintendent, Director of CV-TEC, new School Business Executive (to be hired), Regional Labor Service, etc…) • Program and Enrollment Shifts (CV-TEC, Special Ed. past reductions, enrollment adjustments, new growth …)

CVES’ 2014-15 Strategic Plan Initiative Overview: Why? • Common Core & School Reform Agenda (new focus….Engage NY, Common Core Modules, APPR, CTE Regional Assessments, etc…) • College and Career Ready (Critical attributes - new knowledge, 21st Century Skills, Critical Thinking, etc…) • Emerging & Updated Job Markets (new opportunities, infusion of technology, entrepreneurial thinking/mindset…)

  19. CVES’ 2014-15 Strategic Plan Initiative and Process Overview: Who? Strategic Planning Divisional Team Recommended Membership: • Three divisional teams for CV-TEC, Special Education and ISC/Business Office/Central Office will be created. • Each Team will consist of approximately 10-15 members each. • The Divisional Teams will be created by the Division’s Director and the collaborative teams will work closely with the CVES DPT.

CVES’ 2014-15 Strategic Plan Timeline September/October 2014 – CVES’ District Planning Team (DPT): • CVES DPT (September 24 & 25) Step 1: Setting the Foundation - Mission, Vision, Core Beliefs & Determine Strategic Measures Development • CVES DPT (October 7 & 8) Step 2: Building the Plan - Set Targets; Finalize Measures, and Identify Priorities

CVES’ 2014-15 Strategic Plan Timeline September/October 2014 – CVES’ Divisional Teams: Step 3: • CV-TEC; Special Education; & ISC/Business Office/HR - Each Division will develop aligned goals & plans: Set Targets; Finalize Measures, Identify Priorities, etc. Dates: • Oct 15 (ISC / Business Office) • Oct 16 (Special Education) • October 17 (CV-TEC)

CVES’ 2014-15 Strategic Plan Timeline • November / December 2014 – Review and Finalize Draft Plans, and seek CVES’ Strategic Plan Approval • April / May 2015 – Review and Examine Strategic Plan’s Target(s) / Strategic Plan Progress Review • June 2015 - 2014-15 School Year Final Progress Determination and Review with Board of Education, CVES, stakeholders. Confirm 2015-16 Targets

CVES’ 2014-15 Strategic Plan Anticipated Outcomes: Engage in an intentional process to create consensus and develop CVES-wide buy-in, internally and externally, for our long-term Strategic Direction and Goals (2014-2017) • Committing to a process to build on our CVES past success, best practices & created improved systems • Gather feedback through data, monitoring, assessments and support active stakeholder participation • Commit to a transparent, and on-going process for continuous improvement and planned action

How do we connect the dots….? • Learning, innovation skills and real world application skills are what separate students who are prepared for increasingly complex life and future work environments versus those who are not. • We (CVES) must keep this in mind as we help prepare our students for their next steps and goals… whether it is post-secondary training, higher education or directly into the field of work.

District Superintendent Areas of Focus for 2014-15 • Support / Strengthen the CVES’ Leadership Team & our Programs and Services • Improve communication with all CVES stakeholders: staff, parents, the component school districts, the community, and the CVES Board of Education • Work with all stakeholders to create a successful process to develop a Strategic Plan for CVES • Enhance CVES financial sustainability for 2014-15 and beyond

CVES’ Work of Developing a Strategic Plan 2014-15: Your Role • Engage and participate in helping to develop our Strategic Plan that confirms CVES’ common vision for the future • Ensure Goal alignment CVES-wide with our Mission and Vision and our Component Schools, Community and Business Partners • Give feedback and help develop our thoughtful plans for CVES and each Division to enhance and support our mission and work • Continue to implement our programs and services using the best instructional strategies, effective high quality assessments, and 21stCentury Skills…..and think entrepreneurially!
