  3. QUALITIES OF A LEADER • Active, energetic and good at motivating others • Respectful but not shy • Brave , honesty and patient • Team worker-Able to work with others • Approachable • Transparent • Accountable to the group • Good communicator • Practices participatory leadership

ROLES OF LEADERSHIP • Monitor group activities and achievement of objectives • The ensure compliance with constitution by all members • To ensure active participation by all members in all decision-making processes. • To introduce new ideas to the group and encourage members to do the same. • To report about the work of individual members of the group and the group as a whole. • To represent the groups at different platforms/ to articulate service demands on behalf of their groups. • To act as a link between the group and service providers. • To lead by example. • To organise trainings for its members • To link with other sources of information and markets.

  5. LEAD FARMER • Main contact within the group • To act as a link between the group and the extension worker. • To promote the application of new farming techniques and technologies by group members. • To assist group members to apply new technologies • To share with group members any new information related to agriculture production. • To inform the extension worker on any challenges being faced by the group. • To promote participation by all group members • To lead in innovative farming practices.
