  3. Who is Working on this Project • Sibson Consulting • A strategic Human Resource consulting firm specializing in higher education. • Utah State University HR Department • BrandE Faupell • Marla Boyer • Jodi Morgan • Mickelle Anderson • MSHR Students • Sibson will be working with 5 students currently in the MSHR program at USU. • Leah Gunter • Scott Landis • Summer Mou • Rock Tolman • Matthew Waters

  4. Purpose of the PDQ General Overview The position description questionnaire (PDQ) is used to document responsibilities, functions, and requirements of each job. Purpose The answers provided on the questionnaire will assist in updating USU’s job matches and classifications. Classifications are used for the following: • Update job descriptions • Development of job titling protocol so titles are used consistently • Selection of benchmark jobs • Define essential job criteria and functions This questionnaire will not be used to eliminate jobs or impact salaries.

  5. PDQ General Information • Very important document which needs to be completed • Takes approximately an hour to complete • Give your staff enough time to complete the PDQ • The PDQ can be started and finished at a later time • Focus on the job not the person who is doing it • Like jobs can complete the form together

  6. What is Your Role? • Employee completes the PDQ. • The PDQ is to be approved by the “supervisor” who is closest to that person in the hierarchy. • The PDQ is NOT to be changed. • Supervisor forwards completed PDQ(s) to Jodi Morgan or Marla Boyer with the following statement “I have approved these PDQ’s”. • All employees are filling out these PDQ’s – not just the first line non-exempt workers. • Each Supervisor is required to complete one themselves and obtain appropriate supervisor for approval.

  7. Important Dates • PDQ’s completed and sent to “Supervisors” by February 28 • Supervisor to have sent ALL PDQ’s to Marla Boyer or Jodi Morgan by March 2

  8. Any Questions? “Thanks for completing these PDQ’s PDQ!”
