  3. Daily Life And Routine • Begin at sunrise to pray • Breakfast • Usually work start at 7:00 a.m. • Break noon when lunch and nap • Wake up to work at 2:00p.m. • Held prayers, devotions, short lessons, and read from Bible • At 6:00p.m. dinner then free time

  4. Women sleep 8:00p.m. • Men sleep 9:00p.m. • Children learn from the Bible • They also farmed • Daily life horrible for Indians • Daily life fantastic for missionaries

  5. Indians • Ohlone Indians • Learn farming, metalworking, carpentry • If no learn these they learn Bible • Most did not like how they were treated

Clothing, Food, and Living • Indians use to make clothes of fur and feathers • Now wear cotton and wool • Missionaries always wore clothes of cotton and wool • Breakfast usually porridge • Eat meat like bull, cow , and lamb • Father Fermin Lasuen lived in mission and most of the Ohlone Indians

  7. Famous People • 18006- Count Nikolai Rezanof came to get supplies in San Francisco when Dr. Georg Heinrich Langsdorff visited Mission San Jose • 1827- “Jedediah Strong Smith went to San Jose look for provisions held but got held by padre Duran causing discontent to Indians.”

  8. Mission San Jose Today • Today you could get a tour of the mission • You could see the new white adobe bricks • There is a small museum in it
