New courses are proposed by school staff and approved by principal for further consideration • A committee of school and central instructional staff collaborate to review all new course proposals • Potential new course offerings are presented to the Board for information and review • New course offerings are presented to the Board for approval Course Selection Process

  3. Beginning with students entering ninth grade for the first time in 2013-2014: • A student must earn a board-approved career and technical education credential to graduate with a Standard Diploma. • A student must successfully complete one virtual course, which may be non-credit bearing, to graduate with either a Standard or Advanced Studies diploma. • The Modified Standard Diploma is folded into the Standard Diploma; the Standard Technical and Advanced Technical Diploma are eliminated.   4. “Each institution within the VCCS shall develop agreements for postsecondary degree attainment with the public high schools in the school divisions that they serve, specifying the options for students to complete an associate's degree or a one-year Uniform Certificate of General Studies concurrent with a high school diploma.” • Includes Dual Enrollment and Advanced Placement courses with exam scores of 3 or higher • Submitted to VCCS and VDOE by April 15, 2013 HB 1184
