  1. PHOTOSYNTHESIS ASSIGNMENT BY THOMAS ALLSOPP

  2. MATERIALS USED & AIM OF THE EXPERIMENT Aim The aim of the experiment is to determine if a broad leaf becomes progressively worse with a lack of sunlight or light energy. Also to compare with the broad leaves exposed sunlight/light energy. Materials Used • Black A3 cardboard • Sticky tape • Agave leaf • Digital camera

  3. START This is a picture of the agave with 11 uncovered leaves and 1 covered leaf. We have covered it from the tip of the leaf to the base of the leaf. A normal leaf is light green in colour and hard to the touch.

  4. Week 1 We removed the cover and this picture shows the leaf. The leaf has the same appearance as the uncovered leaves in the picture detailed at the start. It is green and hard to the touch.

  5. Week 2 The base still is green similar to the uncovered leaves at the start, but the tip has brown and white stain. The leaf has started to crack and part of the edge has fallen off. The remaining part of the leaf that is green is still hard to the touch.

  6. Week 3 The base still is green similar to the uncovered leaves at the start, but the tip has brown and white stains. There has been an increase in the cracking and more breakage at the tip compared to week 2. The remaining part of the leaf that is green is still hard to the touch.

  7. Week 4 The base has started to turn brown with very little of the green colours that were on the uncovered leaves at the start,. The top edge has gone yellow and started to curl. The tip has started to look burnt with more cracking and more breakage across the whole tip compared to week 3.

  8. Week 5 The base has started to turn brown and white. There is no green colours like those on the uncovered leaves at the start. The top and bottom edges have gone brown and have curled. The tip has started looks burnt in colour. Almost 25% of the tip has broken off. compared to the original leaf.
