  29. Beam status before 2008 May 2006: completion of electronic detectors commissioning Target Tracker worked well . Aug 2006: technical run, 0.076E19 potcollected 319 muons from interactions in detector front rock Target Tracker and CS worked well . Oct 2007: short physics run (~40% target) 0.082E19 pot collected 38 neutrino events collected in ECC targets Full chain analysis was done.

  30. Beam status 2008 2007 run neutrino delivery stopped, due to Radiation damage of Ventilation system of CNGS target area The Beam target area was shielded by concrete. and no problem any more on Ventilation system Start : Jun 18 End : Nov 03 1.782E19 pot collected. 1690 neutrino interaction tagged by target tracker. Those candidates are in bricks . 0.7 tau candidates to be confirmed expected @Δm2= 2.43 * 10-3 eV2 Increase in the duty cycle since September 24th - suppression of LHC pilot cycle Further increase after October 6th - stop of fixed target cycle

  37. SUMMARY • OPERA started from 2008 with full target (1.3kton)‏ • 1690 neutrino events are stored in ECC 0.7 tau candidatesare expected to be confirmed @m2= 2.43 * 10-3 eV2 • Analysis chain (counter and emulsion scanning) is working well. • About 500 events have been located in ECC . Precise decay hunting/ analysis around the vertex is going on . • 2009 neutrino exposure will start May14 3500 neutrino events will be recorded 2.0 tau candidatesare expected to be detected together with 2008 run. • OPERA will detect appearance (oscillation) soon ! • After OPERA 5 years’ run 10 tau candidate(0.6 BG) events will be collected .
