  1. Night Shots and Long Exposures -Your shutter will be the key to a successful night shot. -You may want to invest in a roll of 3200 speed film to experiment with ISO…think about it.

  2. “B” or “bulb” setting • The bulb setting on your shutter dial lets you keep the shutter open for as long as you choose. • Use the “B” setting when you want to capture light at night with long exposures, do “light writing,” or capture motion at night. • You may need to have a partner with you to help you hold the shutter open if you are planning on doing any light writing.

  3. Tripods • The tripod is your best friend when doing a night shoot. Open shutters can translate to blurry pictures if you’re not careful. • If you don’t have a tripod, you can prop your camera on an inanimate object or up against a wall etc. • If all else fails, use the “tripod stance” to get the most stable shot that you can.
