Do you want to stop Microsoft from automatically renewing your Office 365 Home or Personal subscription? In this guide we will see how to cancel the Office 365 subscription and turn off the auto-renew for your Office 365 account.

Turn off Office 365 auto-renewal • If you have subscribed to one of the editions of Office 365, then you probably know that your subscription will be automatically renewed at the end of your subscription term using the same credit card that you used to subscribe to Office 365. • For instance, if you have subscribed to 12 months, Microsoft will automatically renew your subscription at the end of the 12th month, and your credit card will be charged for the same unless the card has expired or lacking sufficient balance required for the renewal. • Microsoft does send an email about a month prior to the renewal date to let subscribers make necessary changes to their account to cancel the subscription or turn off the auto-renewal.

  4. Cancel subscription or turn off auto renewal. Those of you who want to cancel the subscription or turn off the auto-renew of Office 365 can follow the given below directions to make necessary changes to your account. NOTE 1: You can continue using Microsoft Office 365 Install even after cancelling the subscription but you won’t be able to edit files. However, you will be able to open documents and print them. NOTE 2: According to Microsoft, it will refund your initial subscription or renewal payment provided that you cancel the subscription during the first 30-day period.   5. Step 1: Sign-in to your Office account. Step 2: Under Manage account section, click the button labelled Manage account button to open the same.

  6. Step 3: On the Manage account page, under Payment and Billing section, you can see your payment method and change the payment method. Here, you can click link labelled Turn off auto-renew or Cancel subscription link. Clicking Turn off auto-renew will turn off auto-renewal, meaning your Office 365 subscription will not be auto-renewed when it’s due. For instance, if the next renewal date is 01/01/2016, then it won’t be auto-renewed on that day. This is ideal option compared to cancelling the subscription given that you have paid for it. Clicking Cancel Subscription will allow you to cancel the subscription but you will be able to continue use Office 365 installation in reduced functionality mode, meaning you will be able to open and print your documents but it won’t let you edit your documents.

  7. Once you click turn off auto-renew, you will see the following page where you need to click Turn off auto-renew to stop Microsoft from automatically renewing your Office 365 subscription at the end of the term.

  8. Or And if you click Cancel subscription, you will see the following page asking you to select a reason for your decision to cancel the subscription. Select a reason, click Next button, and finally click the Continue (and not Continue subscription) to the cancel your subscription.
