  3. How do I contact my child’s Counselor ? • You can call and set up an appointment (209) 830-3379. • You or your child can visit the counseling office to schedule an appointment. Students before or afterschool and at lunchtime. • E-mail your counselor.

  4. How do I help my child who is struggling in class? • Contact your child’s teacher. The staff’s email address is generally the first letter of their first name, then their last name; followed by: @tusd.net • Example: Joan Fell = jfell@tusd.net Teacher names can be found on your student’s schedule, report card or on our website.

  5. Tutoring is available before and after school !!!! • Science • Math • Spanish & French • Social Science • English Tutoring calendars are located in the counseling office.

  6. Minimizing Distractions Manage your time wisely during the school week. • Limit Video Game play during the school week. • Limit TV and Cable • Find a quite Place your own Work space if possible.

  9. How do I sign up for Parent Link ? • You will need to follow the link sent in the email message and enter three pieces of information listed below: • VPC • Telephone • Student ID • This information is available in the counseling and administration offices.

  12. When should I expect Report Cards? • 1st qtr. Progress Grades 09/14/2012 • 1st qtr. Report Card OCT. 22ND –Distributed At Parent Conferences • 2ND qtr. Progress Grades 11/16/2012 • 1st Semester Report Card 01/09/2013 • 3rd qtr. progress grades 02/08/2013 • 3rd qtr. Report Card 03/15/2013 • 4th qtr. Progress Grades 04/26/2013 • 2nd Semester Report Card 06/14/2013

Is your child on track to graduate?You must earn a minimum of 220 credits. • 40 English • 20 Math (10 in Algebra 1 or IMP 1) • 30 Science (biological, physical and other) • 20 Physical Education • 10 Visual/Performing Art or Modern Language • 70 Electives (“fun” classes; advanced classes) • 30 Social Sciences Additionally, you must pass the High School Exit Exam (E.L.A. and Math with a 350 or better)

  14. Sophomores should have completed 60 credits.

  15. There are two parts to the test Language Arts Math Students begin testing for the CAHSEE sophomore year. Once you pass one part, you do not have to take that part again. The best way to prepare for the tests is to do well in your current classes! You may also take special CAHSEE classes beginning junior year. Pass the high school exit exam (CAHSEE)

UC Eligibility • Complete a minimum of 15 college-preparatory courses (a-g courses), with at least 11 finished prior to the beginning of your senior year. • Earn a grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or better with no grade lower than a C-. • Meet the examination requirement by taking the ACT With Writing or the SAT Reasoning Test by December of your senior year. We don't require SAT Subject Tests, but certain programs on some campuses recommend them.
