Background to the Spirit Empowered Life • Acts 2:1-4 • When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. 2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3 Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. 4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. • NKJV

  5. Baptism initiates change into a new life in Christ • The Baptism in the Holy Spirit activates change and releases Godly desires and abilities • It is a full release of the Holy Spirit inside of you to impress the power of God upon the soul and personality of the person

  6. Jesus is the Baptizer • Matt 3:10-12 • 11 I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire. 12 His winnowing fan is in His hand, and He will thoroughly clean out His threshing floor, and gather His wheat into the barn; but He will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire." • NKJV

The Psalms Teach Praise Ps 100 1 Make a joyful shout to the LORD, all you lands! 2 Serve the LORD with gladness; Come before His presence with singing. 3 Know that the LORD, He is God; It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves; We are His people and the sheep of His pasture. 4 Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, And into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name. 5 For the LORD is good; His mercy is everlasting, And His truth endures to all generations. NKJV

  8. Ps 50:23 23 Whoever offers praiseglorifies Me; And to him who orders his conduct aright I will show the salvation of God." NKJV The Hebrew root for the word praise is “to stretch out the hand” Salvation is to be delivered from all of your enemies – not only sin and death

Praise Glorifies God • Eph 1:6 To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved. • Eph 1:12 That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ. • Php 1:11 Being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God. • Php 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. • Heb 2:12 Saying, I will declare thy name unto my brethren, in the midst of the church will I sing praise unto thee. • Heb 13:15 By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name. • 1Pe 1:7 That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:

Praise Releases Power when you arein the Crucible of Change Ps 40:1-3 I waited patiently for the LORD; he turned to me and heard my cry. 2 He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. 3 He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear and put their trust in the LORD. NIV

Praise is Manifested Audibly • We hear them speaking in our own languages the wonderful works of God. • Acts 10:44-46 • While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell upon all those who heard the word. 45 And those of the circumcision who believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out on the Gentiles also. 46 For they heard them speak with tongues and magnify God.

Manifestation Gifts of the Spirit • 1 Cor 12:1-3 • Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I do not want you to be ignorant: 2 You know that you were Gentiles, carried away to these dumb idols, however you were led. 3 Therefore I make known to you that no one speaking by the Spirit of God calls Jesus accursed, and no one can say that Jesus is Lord except by the Holy Spirit. • NKJV

Against such there is no law. 24 And those who are Christ's have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. 26 Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another. • NKJV

  19. What does it take to reap the benefits of the Spirit-Empowered life? And who can live this blessing???? Acts 10:34-37 Then Peter opened his mouth and said: "In truth I perceive that God shows no partiality. 35 But in every nation whoever fears Him and works righteousness is accepted by Him. 36 The word which God sent to the children of Israel, preaching peace through Jesus Christ — He is Lord of all — Acts 11:15-17 15 And as I began to speak, the Holy Spirit fell upon them, as upon us at the beginning. 16 Then I remembered the word of the Lord, how He said, 'John indeed baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit.' 17 If therefore God gave them the same gift as He gave us when we believed on the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I that I could withstand God?" NKJV

  20. What does it take to reap the benefitsof the Spirit-Empowered life? • Let it out – if you believe in the Lord Jesus Christ – it’s in You! • And start doing it – The Holy Spirit in you will make it happen • Receive the Holy Spirit into your daily life and live the Spirit-Empowered Life!
