California, BerkeleyDMR-0341688 Training on the project allows trainees to move easily into a variety of different fields.A recent Ph.D. student from the project, Seok-Choel Hong, went into biophysics and took the position of assistant professor at the prestigious Korea University.A recent female visiting researcher, Song-Hee Han, moved into optoelectronics research at the Kwon-Jue Institute of Science and Technology. A recent visiting scholar, Lei Xu, returned to China and became the director of Key Laboratory of Optical Science and Technology in Fudan University in Shanghai.A former Ph.D student from the project, Xiaowei Zhuang, currently on Harvard faculty, went into biophysics and received numerous prestigious awards. She recently became an Investigator of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute. Published a Scientific-American-level article on Laser Science in AAPPS Bulletin to help celebrate the 2005 International Year of Physics. Participated in a science camp for high school students in Taiwan as a lecturer.
