  2. His work Charles John Dickens was an author of many books, including the famous Oliver Twist. His work has been made into many films and TV shows. Dickens gained fame with his 1836 publication: Pickwick Papers. Charles published his work in monthly or weekly instalments. His books enjoyed unprecedented fame and by the 20th century his works were already starting to be noted as literary genius..

  3. His life Charles was born on the 7th of February 1812 in Portsmouth. Dickens was forced to leave school to work in a factory when his father was thrown into debtors' prison. Although he had little education, his early hardships drove him to succeed. He was the second of 8 children and himself went on to have 10!He married Catherine Hotharg and died in 1870 at just 58, though he ran off with a woman 30 years younger than him a few years later.

  4. His Times Charles lived in a fairly turbulent era, there were already signs of an industrial revolution. England was getting involved in world trade .Dickens lived when the workhouse was still in full force. Boys from rich families would attend boarding schools while rich girls would be trained up by governesses,but school for the poor were often squalid and dirty with very little resources.
