  3. What do you think happened to the Mary Celeste? Draw conclusions based on information in the article. Write your answer, as well as, the text evidence on a piece of paper, sign your name, and fold the paper in fourths. Set it aside… Now, to unravel the mystery…

  4. Homework: Study your 30 SS vocabulary words! MS Test Prep Book, p. 119-120.

  5. Now, to unravel the Mystery! Introduction to the mystery – listen closely as I read!

  6. Now, to unravel the Mystery! Close Read: 1st Read—circle any unusual words and use context clues to aid your understanding. 2nd Reading—Highlight facts/opinions that you believe support what happened to the Mary Celeste. Using your highlighted information, write a claim at the bottom of your article: “The Mary Celeste was abandoned because ________. I believe this to be true for the following reason, ___, ___, and ___.

  7. Now, to unravel the Mystery! Put all the facts together: Gather in groups of same article to discuss findings and draw valid conclusions. It is ok if your claim is different as long as your evidence fully supports its validity. Move into groups of four different articles and discuss all findings. Draw conclusion and present answer to class.
