  1. What plants and animals live in the West? By: Kami, Maddie, Luci, Anthony, and Jack

  2. Our conjecture is… We think that there are different crops, mammals, birds, plants, and fish in the western states.

  3. Mammals in the Western States Moose live in the western states. You can find moose outside of Yellowstone National Park. Buffalo and Bison live in the western states too. They like to go and wander around Yellowstone. You can find Grizzly bears in the west states. In the 1880’s these bears almost disappeared. They were becoming endangered what is now Montana, Wyoming, and Idaho. There are a range of between 400 and 600. Here are some other animals that live in the west Wolves, Antelopes, Coyotes, Mule, Deer, and Elk.

  4. Birds in the Western States Blue birds live in the west. They are endangered. Males have dark blue feathers while females are gray brown. The western grebe lives in lakes and ponds. When they swim they rush across the lake and extend their necks to gain speed. Western tanagers lives in forests in the west they use low chirps when mating and higher chirps when calling to their young. Other western birds are the screech owl, the meadow lark the western king bird and the scrub jay.

  6. Plants in the Western States One of the first flowers to wake up in the spring is the pasqueflower, they have lovely silver foliage and cherry purple blooms. The Purple Prairie Clover is seen rarely, it bears loads of neon purple flowers through the summer. The prickly pear blooms in late spring with its striking pink or yellow flowers. Poppy mallow bears bright red flowers all summer long and is pest free! The butterfly weed will soar to the top of your favorite-plant list because its color is electric orange are a butterfly magnet.

  7. Fish in the Western States Brown trout live in the west. They can deal with water that is a little warmer then the water that other trout species live in. Cutthroat trout are often found in rivers and streams that are in the mountain. They eat minnows and insects that are found in fast moving waters . Brook Trout live in water with temperatures that don’t normally rise over 67 or 68 degrees. They eat small fish mollusks, minnows and worms.

  9. Our conclusion is… Our conjecture was correct. There are many kinds of mammals, birds, fish, crops, and plants in the western states. All these kinds of living things live in the west.
