Counting Contacts and Evaluations • Evaluations that occur September 1 through May 31 count against the permissible number of recruiting opportunities, except for evaluations that occur on the same day as a permissible contact. • Evaluations that occur June 1 through August 31 do not count against the annual number of recruiting opportunities. • Contacts count against the permissible number of recruiting opportunities regardless of the time period. • On Same Day • Any number of contacts or evaluations made during the same day shall count as one contact or one evaluation.

Tournament Evaluation • Evaluation during each day of a tournament held during the academic year shall count as a separate evaluation except as follows: • Evaluation of multiple contests in a tournament that occur on consecutive days (and normally at the same site) shall count as a single evaluation. • Evaluation of multiple contest in a single tier of a tournament (e.g., sectional, district, regionals) shall count as a single observation. If a particular tier of a tournament is subdivided into identifiable segments (e.g., conducted on different weekends), evaluation of contest in each identifiable segment counts as a single observation.

  7. Recruiting Days • Men’s Basketball: 130 recruiting-person days during academic year. • Women’s Basketball: 112 recruiting-person days year (measured August 1 through July 31). • Women’s Volleyball: 80 evaluation days year (measured August 1 through July 31).

  8. Telephone Calls

  9. Telephone Calls ^ In Lacrosse, coaches and staff may not receive phones calls from PSA until September 1 of junior year too.

Exception to Telephone Calls • Official Visit • Unlimited telephone calls to a PSA during the five days prior the PSA’s official visit and during the official visit. • Unofficial Visit • Unlimited telephone calls to a PSA beginning the day prior the PSA’s unofficial visit until the conclusion of the visit. • Noncoaching Staff Members and Noncountable Coaches- Telephone Calls in Conjunction with Official Visit • Unlimited telephone calls to a PSA during the five days prior the PSA’s official visit and during the official visit. • Noncoaching Staff Members and Noncountable Coaches- Telephone Calls in Conjunction with Unofficial Visit • Unlimited telephone calls to a PSA beginning the day prior the PSA’s unofficial visit until the conclusion of the visit.

  13. Exception to Electronic Correspondence • Electronic Correspondence in conjunction with an Unofficial Visit • May be sent to PSA beginning the day immediately preceding the unofficial visit until the conclusion of the visit.

Printed Recruiting Materials • General Correspondence: There is no restriction on the design or content of general correspondence and attachment, except that the size of the printed material may not exceed 8½ by 11 inches when opened in full. There is no restrictions on the design or content of an envelope used to send general correspondence and attachment, except that the size of the envelope may not exceed 9 by 12 inches. • Camp or Clinic Information: May be provided at any time. • Questionnaires: May provide at any time. • Non-athletics Institutional Publications: available at any time (e.g., official academic, admissions, and student-services publications published by the institution and available to all students.) • Educational Material Published by NCAA: Educational material published by the NCAA (e.g., NCAA Guide for College-Bound Student-Athlete) may be provided at any time.

  16. GIF • The academic and membership affairs staff confirmed that animation (e.g., animated GIF, interactive PDF) is video/audio material. • May not be created for recruiting purposes • May not be personalized to include a prospective student-athlete’s name, picture or likeness

  17. Tapbacks • Electronic correspondence includes tapbacks on the iPhone and reactions to a text message. Coaches cannot respond to a prospect’s text message with these features until the permissible date the prospect can receive electronic correspondence.

Text, Images or Video Layering • It is not permissible to layer the text of recruiting correspondence to appear in the foreground of an otherwise permissible video.  • However, it is permissible for the text of recruiting correspondence to appear separately from permissible video in electronic correspondence.  • It is also not permissible for an otherwise permissible video to play in the background of an image in electronic correspondence if the image and the video have been layered for recruiting purposes.  • However, if images or text have been layered with a permissible video (e.g., text or images layered with a general institutional video to describe or compare various institutional facilities) for reasons other than recruiting purposes, such video may be shown to and provided to a prospective student-athlete.
