  1. Anglicky v odborných předmětech"Support ofteachingtechnicalsubjects in English“ Tutorial: Physics Topic: Spring-mounting Prepared by : RNDr. Ondřej Jeřábek Projekt Anglicky v odborných předmětech, CZ.1.07/1.3.09/04.0002 je spolufinancován Evropským sociálním fondem a státním rozpočtem České republiky.

  2. Spring-mounting

  3. Spring-mountingmeaning • Secures flexible connection between car body and axle → comfort and driving safety • Comfort → means situation with minimal physical and mental exhaustion • Car vibration frequency at springing should have frequency from 65 to 110 vibrations per second • Driving safety→ providing of friction power between tyre and road at all car working conditions

  4. Sprang and unsprang materials • Make the whole car weight • Unsprang material – whole car material placed ´under´ springing (disc, tyres, axle etc.) • Sprung material – whole car material placed ´over´ springing (frame, car body, crew etc.) • Springing quality is determined by ratio of sprang and unsprang materials • If ratio is higher, springing has better quality

  5. Leafsprings • Stressed by bending when the car is riding • Leaf spring is a bundle of some metal leaves of spring steel that have rectangular cross section • Steel leaves of leaves springs are always set on each other • There are these kinds of leaf springs: front, back, longitudinal, transversal and oblique

  6. Coiled springs • There are used compressed coiled springs with cylindrical wire cross-section made by spring steel • Coil rise of coiled springs is determined so that there begins safe clearance by maximal springing compression • One of coiled spring components is oil or gas shock absorber

  7. Liquidshock absorber • Made by cylinder filled with liquid (hydraulic oil) • There is mobile piston inside and throttling valve – low pressure and high pressure • Piston supplies hydraulic oil pressing • Valves supply oil flow throttling and that is why absorber power is produced • Liquid absorber can be pressed easily and it is difficult to extend it (correct function)

  8. Pneumatic springs • Used at lorries • Springing medium - there is closed air in pressure vessel • Pneumatic springs need source of pressed air - compressor • There are 2 types of pneumatic springs – membrane and bellows • Pneumatic springs enable keeping constant height of car body over the roadway or it keeps car body inclining • Progression comes at pneumatic springs automatically

  9. Activity I • Find out on the Internet • Liquid absorber • Coil springs

  10. Activity II • Describe the test of spring-mounting
