  1. Welcome to theAP MUSIC THEORY! Please have a seat and we will begin our presentation.

  2. It’s a music class, so it’s easy right….? • This course covers most the first two semesters of college level music theory • The test is one of the most complicated that AP gives • Most of us have had very little experience with theory, so we are going from nowhere to professionals in one year.

  3. Grading Info • Written Tests- 25% • Based on the written portion of AP test • Written Homework- 25% • Integral for success in course. Will be due on time. • Ear Training HW and Tests- 25% • Listening skills are only developed through practice. Tests will count 2x. • Sight Singing HW and Tests- 25% • The key to success on the FRQs and the test.

  4. Singing • You will sing everyday. • Sometimes you will be with a group. • Sometimes you will be alone. • It will be in front of people in the class. • You will get 25% of your grade from singing. • You will sing everyday. • I am not joking. You. Yes, you. You will sing everyday. For a grade. In front of the person sitting next to you right now. 

  5. After school sessions • We will begin to have at least one session a week after school working on test questions. Students who came to this two years ago got 4s and 5s. • This is a larger class. I am going to have to move faster than last time, and will have less time one on one. Come see me with questions.
