  3. DID YOU KNOW……….???? E-waste or electronic wastes are Broadlydescribed as loosely discarded, surplus, obsolete, broken, electrical or electronic devices

  4. E-waste consists of all waste from electronic and electrical appliances which have reached their end- of- life period or are no longer fit for their original intended use and are destined for recovery, recycling or disposal.

  5. Circuit boards in computers and other electronics contain toxic materials like chromium, nickel, and zinc.

  6. E-waste is the largest source of lead in solid waste….

  7. How Much Waste is in 500 Million computers? Plastic - 6.32 Billion Pounds Lead - 1.58 Billion Pounds Cadmium - 3 Million Pounds Chromium - 1.9 Million Pounds Mercury - 632,000 Pounds

  8. Recycling one million desktop computers prevents the release of Greenhouse Gases equivalent to the annual emissions of 16,000 passenger cars - EPA

  9. By recycling 100 Million cell phones, approximately 7,500 pounds of gold could recovered-allowing that amount of gold from cell phones, rather than mining it from the earth , would prevent 12,000,000,000 pounds of loose soil, sand and rock from having to be moved, mined and processed - EPA
