  1. Different Types of Refractive Surgery Available at The Eye Center P.A. The Eye Center, P.A. is a leading provider of eye care services in South Carolina. They offer a variety of refractive surgery options to help patients achieve clear vision. LASIK (Laser-Assisted In Situ Keratomileusis) is one of the most popular types of refractive surgery offered at The Eye Center, P.A. This procedure uses a laser to reshape the cornea and improve vision by correcting nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. It is a quick and safe procedure that offers permanent results with minimal discomfort. For those who are not suitable candidates for LASIK, The Eye Center, P.A. offers PRK (Photorefractive Keratectomy). This procedure reshapes the cornea in much the same way as LASIK but does not involve creating a flap in the tissue like LASIK does. PRK takes longer to heal than LASIK but also has fewer side effects and risks associated with it. For those who have higher levels of nearsightedness or farsightedness, The Eye Center offers implantable contact lenses (ICL). This procedure involves inserting thin lenses into the eye to correct vision without changing the shape of the cornea like other refractive surgeries do. ICLs are designed to be permanent and can provide excellent visual results for those with more severe cases of nearsightedness or farsightedness that cannot be corrected with glasses or contacts alone. The Eye Center, P.A also offers Refractive Lens Exchange (RLE) for those who are not suitable candidates for any other type of refractive surgery due to age-related changes in their vision such as presbyopia or cataracts. RLE involves removing the eye’s natural lens and replacing it with an artificial intraocular lens (IOL). This procedure can correct both nearsightedness and farsightedness as well as astigmatism while also providing protection from cataracts in the future if needed. No matter what your individual needs may be, The Eye Center has a variety of different types of refractive surgery available that can help you achieve clear vision to help eliminate the need for glasses or contacts so you can get back to living your life without worrying about your eyesight! About Author The Eye Center is the leading refractive practice in South Carolina, providing full service eye care and specializing in Refractive Surgery – Lasik, AST, PRK, PRELEX, as well as Corneal Transplant and Cataract Surgery.
