This day is celebrated to spread awareness about the benefits of vaccination and to encourage people to get vaccinated. Vaccination has been one of the most significant public health interventions in history, leading to the eradication of smallpox, the control of many other infectious diseases, and the prevention of countless deaths. The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that vaccination prevents 2-3 million deaths every year. National Vaccination Day is celebrated in many countries around the world. In India, it is observed on March 16th every year. The day marks the launch of the largest vaccination drive in the world, which was launched in 1995 to eliminate polio from India. On this day, various government and non-government organizations, health workers, and volunteers come together to organize awareness campaigns and vaccination camps. They aim to reach out to as many people as possible and educate them about the importance of vaccination. Vaccination is one of the most effective ways to protect oneself from infectious diseases. It not only protects the individual who receives the vaccine but also the community as a whole. Vaccination helps in the prevention of epidemics and the spread of diseases.
