  3. Overview I chose to have Thanksgiving as my lesson because Thanksgiving is a big holiday that incorporates a lot history. Thanksgiving has Native American and Pilgrim history and history over the First Thanksgiving. With this holiday, students can compare Thanksgiving from the past to how it is now.   4. Motivation My presentation will have Thanksgiving colors to attract my student’s attention and get them to complete the lesson. Throughout the lesson will be a small motivator of a turkey to give my student’s encouragement and will help them through the lesson and quiz. Back to Teacher Page Next

  16. Wampanoag Indians • Native people knew land very well, they could fish, hunt, harvest the land and had for generations • The Native Americans involved in the First Thanksgiving were known as the Wampanoag Indians • They lived in Southeast Massachusetts and Eastern Rhode Island

Pilgrims • English Protestants who wanted to leave the Church of England • Funds from the English Merchants allowed 101 men, women, and children to sail to the “new world” on the Mayflower • 66 days traveling the Atlantic Ocean • Intended to land in New York, but with the wind, the trip was cut short and landed in Cap Cod
