English 10- 9/23/13 • I think that somehow, we learn who we really are and then live with that decision. – Eleanor Roosevelt • What does Mr. Buffalo say to Buffalo Jr. as he leaves for work? • Sharpshooter – Current legal slang for a lawyer that aims at loop-holes. Goals – Share Life Maps for extra credit. Begin work on “hooks” and capturing the reader’s imagination. Free write your “story.” Homework – Get your hook word processed and go as far as you can typing in your story; save it as “Personal Essay d1.” Points will be assigned. We need to use it in class tomorrow so print it out, Don’t forget to study for Vocab. 4 on Friday.

Create comic or dramatic effect. Homework – Revise your hook and complete the story to include interesting sensory detail, figurative language, and comic or dramatic effect. Revise “Personal Essay d1” save as “Personal Essay d2.” Points - print it out.

Homework – Revise your story to include an appositive, and transitions within the paragraphs. Revise “Personal Essay d2” save as “Personal Essay d3.” Keep focus on the descriptive type of writing
