About asapm Young Crew • Mission: • The primary mission of the asapm Young Crew is to “cultivate, develop, and support young project managers of today and for tomorrow using strategic innovation, sound leadership, and inspiration to achieve excellence within the project management community.” • Vision: • Our vision is to be recognized as the flagship organization that will foster and advance project management excellence for young project managers and project management practitioners throughout the United States.

Partnership with GWU PMSA • A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) is in place to allow the asapm Young Crew to collaborate with the GWU PMSA on speakers and events • asapm Young Crew would like to offer opportunities to the GWU PMSA for international awards and recognition • Project Excellence Award • Young Project Manager Award • Research Awards

The IPMA Certification Program • IPMA Certification Program • Designed to be an ongoing development process • Not just a pass/fail assessment, but tests behavioral, contextual, and technical competency • Globally Recognized • Over 100,000 members in more than 50 countries • Respected industry standard ranging from IT to Aviation to Banking and beyond

Overview of IPMA Certifications • Level D: Certified Project Management Associate: Shall have the knowledge in all competence elements and be able to apply • Level C: Certified Project Manager: Shall be able to manage projects with limited complexity and/or to assist the manager of a complex project. • Level B: Certified Senior Project Manager: Shall be able to manage complex projects. • Level A: Certified Projects Director: Shall be able to manage complex project portfolios or programs

IPMA vs. PMI Certifications IPMA PMI Multiple, published, “tried and true” study guides and exam questions Computer-based certification exam Globally recognized and respected certification Many local / community PMI chapters and learning opportunities • Certifications (from the C level) confirm managerial and interpersonal competencies • Interviews enhance the creditability of the certifications • Certifications are performance-based • Interactive evaluation process involving personal interviews • Extensive IPMA network for job opportunities & career development

The IPMA Certification Process • Level D • Entry level • Exam plus minimal experience required • Exam is essay questions plus multiple choice • Levels C, B, and A • Project Manager, Senior Project Manager, Program Manager • Stage 1 Application to verify experience • Stage 2 Application to provide evidence of performance • Interview to confirm competence

What is the PROMOTE Program? • PROject Managers Open To Excellence • Targeted at senior project managers • Designed to certify and train 2-4 qualified assessors in all major US metropolitan areas • Application available online • Requires assessment interview to verify evidence of competence If you are interested in applying to the PROMOTE program, please fill out the application form that will be provided to you at the end of the webinar.

  13. Can I Get Extra Credit? • asapm will award IPMA Level D® certification to qualified applicants: • Completed Masters Degree in Program or Project Management • Completed training certificate of at least 120 contact hours • Holds certain select certifications from another professional association • Program will be offered again during 2010 • Date and details to be announced
