Conducting Innovative Research in Vitamin and Mineral Science • Scientists at DSM developed NutriRice™, which is added to natural rice at a ratio of 1:100, improving the health and productivity of whole populations • Tolerase™ L – a highly effective digestive aid for people who suffer from lactose intolerance – was developed by scientists at DSM to support digestive health

Forging Partnerships with Leaders in Nutrition • In January 2013, DSM and the World Food Programme (WFP) extended their existing partnership to 2015 to combat hidden hunger and malnutrition in the developing world • In 2011, DSM partnered with a UK-based company called Provexis to unlock the blood-flow benefits of tomatoes, resulting in Fruitflow® - a unique tomato extract that increases cardiovascular health and aims to help people live healthier and longer

Convening Key Stakeholders at Major Conferences and Events • At the 2012 World Health Summit Asia, DSM hosted a High-Level Dialogue on the Critical Importance of Nutrition in Sustained Health & Development Outcomes. Partners included the GAIN Alliance, World Vision, Save the Children and Essential Micronutrients Foundation • In 2012, DSM and Sight and Life convened leaders at the United Nations General Assembly for a reception – 100 Years of Vitamins: Celebrating Progress and Promise

Raising Awareness of the Essential Role of Vitamins • DSM and Sight and Lifesupport global nutrition organizations and movements like the Scaling Up Nutrition (SUN) Movement – seeking to advance global health and development through improved nutrition • DSM and the International Osteoporosis Foundation launched a global vitamin D deficiency map to advocate for increased vitamin supplementation and food fortification for at-risk groups, such as the elderly

Finding and Implementing Nutrition Solutions • DSM is addressing the global issue of micronutrient deficiency through the innovative MixMe™ powder, which is added to food without impacting taste, combating iron and other micronutrient deficiencies • Sight and Lifehas continued to address vitamin A deficiency by recently transferring management of direct distribution of capsules to Vitamin Angels. Through this, Sight and Life has consolidated and strengthened the capacity of local NGOs to distribute vitamin A capsules
