  3. Before Play • Introduce the topic and find out what the students already know about it. • Introduce new vocabulary in the text have a brainstorming session or/ and discussion • provide some background • information By P.Meganathan for Gr8tteam Project

  4. While Play • Tell students  what they need to listen for. .e.g. Selective details or general content. (emotional tone such as happy, surprised, or angry) Or ask students to listen in order to answer some question or to take notes. By P.Meganathan for Gr8tteam Project

  5. After Play • Discussion or speaking. • Mostly task orientated section. Students answer the questions Encourage students to participate in discussions Provide some homework to remember new vocabulary. By P.Meganathan for Gr8tteam Project

  7. Repetition • Play the recording a total of 2-3 times • 1st time : to get a clear idea off the entire topic. • Read task questions carefully • Listen for 2nd time and answer the questions. • Play again if necessary. By P.Meganathan for Gr8tteam Project

  8. Content • Material should be interesting and appropriate • e.g. proficiency level, vocabulary and topic • Avoid using advanced materials in beginner class By P.Meganathan for Gr8tteam Project

  9. Noise • Ensure to reduce distractions and noise during the listening activity • .e.g. close doors or windows to avoid noises from outside.  • Do not stop/ pause the recording at any stage (unless asked so) - might distract the student’s concentration. • Ensure the recording is loud enough for all students to listen.   10. Instrument • Bring extra batteries – for radio or cassette player • Test the equipment before one day • Do all setting earlier (15-20mins) – to avoid late starting By P.Meganathan for Gr8tteam Project
