  6. PollinationFertilization • During pollination the pollen moves from the anther to the stigma either by animal, wind or water. • It starts to grow a pollentube down to the ovary. • The sperm in the pollen fertilizes the eggs (ovules) in the ovary.

  7. Fertilization Germination • Once the egg (ovule) is fertilized by the sperm, a seed begins to form. • The ovary turns into the fruit to surround and protect the seeds. • The seed is released when the fruit rots or is eaten by an animal and then deposited. • The seed will germinate (sprout) when planted in a suitable environment.

  8. Pollination • Self-Pollination: pollen from stamen of a plant pollinates the pistil of the same plant • Cross-Pollination: pollen from the stamen of a plant pollinates the pistil of a different plant. • Pollen can travel by animals, wind, and water.
