  2. Introduction Policy Relaxation, within the context of foreign trade policy for Importers and Exporters in India, denotes the exemption granted from established policies and procedures. The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) holds the authority to, in the public interest, issue orders or provide exemptions, relaxations, or relief on grounds of genuine hardship from any provision outlined in the foreign trade policy (FTP) or associated procedures. This mechanism serves as a crucial avenue for ensuring flexibility and adaptability in international trade practices.

  3. All matters related to policy relaxation fall under the purview of the Policy Relaxation Committee (PRC) situated at DGFT New Delhi. PRC committee, chaired by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), serves as the focal point for deliberations and decisions concerning exemptions and relaxations. It acts as a strategic entity, meticulously addressing cases that warrant special consideration due to genuine hardships or specific circumstances.

  4. The complex process of policy relaxation unfolds as the PRC evaluates and reviews each case, applying a nuanced approach to balance public interest with the needs of trade businesses. By providing a structured framework for addressing challenges, the PRC plays a crucial role in maintaining the integrity of the foreign trade policy while accommodating the dynamic nature of global trade. In essence, the Policy Relaxation mechanism emerges as a vital instrument for promoting fairness, transparency, and efficiency in India's international trade landscape.

  5. What is an e-PRC System? An e-PRC system refers to an Electronic Permanent Resident Card system, which digitally manages and facilitates the issuance and verification of permanent resident cards. e-PRC system leverages electronic processes to streamline the application, renewal, and authentication procedures associated with permanent residency. It typically involves online platforms, databases, and secure authentication mechanisms to enhance efficiency and security in handling the documentation and identification processes for individuals with permanent resident status in a given country. The e-PRC system aims to modernize and simplify the administration of permanent residency programs.

  6. Why e-PRC was introduced? The introduction of an e-PRC system stems from a broader initiative to modernize and digitize immigration and residency processes. By implementing electronic systems for permanent resident cards, governments aim to enhance efficiency, reduce paperwork, and improve overall service delivery. Electronic systems streamline application procedures, minimize processing times, and provide a more secure and accessible method for residents to manage their permanent residency status. Additionally, the transition to e-PRC systems aligns with global trends in leveraging technology to create more agile and user-friendly immigration frameworks, promoting a seamless experience for both authorities and residents.
