  3. Nationally, more than half of teenagers are virgins until they are at least 17 years of age (Sex and America's Teenagers, The Alan Guttmacher Institute, New York, 1994).

  4. In the U.S., 7 in 10 women who had sex before age 14, and 6 in 10 of those who had sex before age 15 report having had sex involuntarily. (Facts in Brief: Teen Sex and Pregnancy, The Alan Guttmacher Institute, New York, 1996).

Nationally, one-quarter of 15 year old females and less than 30% of 15 year old males have had sex, compared with 66% of 18 year old females, and 68% of 18 year old males who have had sexual intercourse.   13. Prom is a big night in itself and it should not be the reason you choose to have sex. If the idea that everyone else is doing it that night repeats over and over in your head, remember there are never as many people doing something as you believe there are. In high school, there are less than one-half of students having sex (teenpreg). If you are emotionally, mentally, and physically ready to have sex and prom night happens to be the night, there are no ontraceptives that are one hundred percent effective against pregnancy. Each year, eight hundred-twenty thousand teenage girls get pregnant (teenpreg).

  14. The combination of an abundance of alcohol with young people celebrating the end of a school year, or even the end of high school, can lead to many problems. While many of these seniors and other teenagers expect to have rules-free, fun-filled celebrations with their friends, they may very well engage in risky behaviors, such as: • Underage drinking • Drug use • Promiscuity and unprotected sex • Impaired driving. • Besides the risky behaviors listed above, teenagers may encounter other problems that are sometimes beyond their control.   15. What Sins Are Involved With The Prom

Problems Arise!!! • Principals said they have avoided the drastic action officials in Oxford, Ala., took this spring when they disciplined 25 students for violating the dress code at prom. • One Omaha Catholic school principal, however, once sent a girl home to change. • Every spring, high school girls and their families embark on a quest to satisfy what can be competing interests: a daughter's yearning for beauty and style and adults' demand for modesty.

Problems Arise • At Skutt Catholic High School, Principal Patrick Slattery sends a letter advising parents that students not properly dressed for prom could be denied entry. • “Parents, he wrote, should assist their daughters in choosing “a modest prom dress, i.e. no plunging necklines, no bare midriff, no strapless gowns which are difficult to keep on, etc. Most current fashions do not incorporate these guidelines. It may take a little extra time and effort to find just the right dress.”

Parents!!! • If you let your child go, you are sinning in so doing!!! • Ephesians 6:4 And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord. • Ephesians 5:6-10 6 Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience. 7 Therefore do not be partakers with them. 8 For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light 9 (for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness, righteousness, and truth), 10 finding out what is acceptable to the Lord. • 1Ti 5:22 Do not lay hands on anyone hastily, nor share in other people's sins; keep yourself pure. • Learn from the example of Eli – 1 Samuel 2:12-25 • DON’T BE PERMISSIVE! BE A PARENT!!!

  48. Parents!!! • What if you have already spent the money to go? • 2 Chron. 25:9 Then Amaziah said to the man of God, "But what shall we do about the hundred talents which I have given to the troops of Israel?" And the man of God answered, "The LORD is able to give you much more than this."

Children!!! • When your parents say “No!”, don’t give them grief, but obey them!!! • Ephesians 6:1-3 1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. 2 "Honor your father and mother," which is the first commandment with promise: 3 "that it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth."
