  2. HSC Plus. What is it? HSC Plus is a program of rewarding by means of a bonus points system, performance in Australian Senior Secondary Certificate (Year 12) and IB courses relevant to UNSW undergraduate programs.

  3. Why has UNSW introduced it? • Strong correlation between Year 12 course performance and success in 1st year Uni. • To encourage students to enrol in appropriate Year 12 subjects to ensure they are academically prepared for their University studies, instead of focusing on maximising their UAIs.

  4. Who’s eligible for HSC Plus? • Students completing Year 12 courses in year prior to admission • Includes both Domestic and International students studying Australian Year 12 (UAI or equivalent) or IB in Australia in the year preceding admission. • Domestic students can be eligible for both ACCESS and HSC Plus • NB: not available for mid-year admission

  5. How many bonus points? • A maximum of 5 bonus points for each UNSW preference.

  6. Are all UNSW programs included? • The following programs are NOT included in HSC Plus: • Combined Law • Commerce (International) • Medicine/Surgery • Optometry/Science • Psychology • ADFA CDFSP • All other UNSW undergraduate programs are included.

  7. HSC Plus – Need to apply? • No separate application is required. • Students must lodge an application through UAC. • Bonus points are program specific • The extra points are automatically added to the UAI or equivalent if the applicant achieves the specified band in the relevant Year 12 course.

  11. 2008 HSC Plus Updates! • Languages for 2011 entry • Current year 10 students (2008) who undertake a year 12 Language course will be eligible to receive bonus points when they apply for a degree in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences for 2011 entry. • B Science (Advanced Mathematics) • Bonus points available for entry in 2009.
