  1. Product Evolution: Music playing dvices William brooks and Logan Roberts Into To Eng. 3 period

  2. The First Music Playing Devices: Jan 1,1887 The original music playing device was the Phonograph. It was created by The phonograph was invented by Thomas Edison. Original phonograph what used mainly as a recording device. Thomas Edison used for showing it to people and how and explained how it worked. This device was originally made and many modifications were made to the cylinder which emits the sound. The cylinder was switched between different types of metals. Materials_ Iterchangeable needle stylus, wax coated cylinder, tinfoil cylinder, cardboard cylinder and a wooden box. Improvments_ The stylus and cylinder was changed to make a better sound disk with music where later added forming the gramophone

  3. Gramophone Jan1,1887 Although the phonograph was accredited as the first music playing device the gramophone and the phonograph were introduced on the same date to the public. The gramophone was invented by Emile Berliner. Who was the first inventor to stop recording on cylinders and recorded on disc. This was a breakthrough improvement because it make the carrying of music easier. The disk was made of many materials such as rubber, mineral filters(grinded up rock), slate, and cotton fibers. A gramophone is also known as a turntable, record player, and record table.

  4. Cassette Player and Cassette Jan 1, 1965 The cassette player and tapes was invented by Phillips Cooperation in 1963. They were made available to the public in 1965. The original materials used were metal and plastic. The early cassette player were built with and external microphone. A flaw of the device is that the speed at which the tape played was set at the factory. The user could not adjust how fast or slow the tape played so if it went to fast you were out of luck. An improvement was that Sony tried to strengthen the film inside of the tapes. They tired to do this so that they would last longer.

  5. The Sony Walkman Jan 1, 1978 The Sony walkman was created by Masaru Ibuka and Akio Morita in 1979. This was a breakthrough in the music business because it allowed people to carry there music in a light weight and can be taken virtually anywhere. One of the interesting improvements that were made was it had two head phone jacks so two people could listen to the same thing at the same time. Eventually the Walkman was developed intro one of the first CD players known as the Disc Man introduced in 1984.

  6. MP3 Jan 1, 1998 In 1998 the first MP3 players were distributed to the public. They where initially invented by the Fraunhofer-Gesellshaft company in Germany. The original materials were a digital signal processer, audio and data interface, high resolution interface cards, high frequency resolution filter bank, non-uniform quantization, and Huffman coding. They improved it by adding a Audio codec called a adaptive spectral perceptual entropy coding so that it can hold more songs.

  7. IPod music playersIntroduced in-November 20, 2001 The IPods were first introduced on November 20, 2001. Invented by Steve Jobs of Apple the original IPods were unbelievably bulky. But over the years Apple has made vast improvements to them. The original materials were a plastic case, various metals, and large circuit board. The Ipod touch however is completely different form the orignalipods. They have a protective plastic cover with another metal cover so it wont break easily.
