  2. Personification • An animal giving Human-like Qualities or an object giving life –like qualities. The sun smiling down or the boat hugged the shore.

  3. Alliteration • Consonant sounds repeated at the beginning of a word. • Ron rock his rock and roll band.

  4. Assonance • repeating VOWEL sounds in a line or lines of poetry.

  5. Hyperbole • Exaggeration often used for emphasis • A man like million times harder.

  6. Onomatopoeia • Words that imitate the sounds they are naming. • Like Pop,bang,Buzz,Ding,crash

  7. Metaphor • A direct comparison of two unlike things.

  8. Simile • A comparison of two things using “like or “as”.

  9. Imagery • Most images are visual, but they can also appeal to the senses of sound,touch,taste, or smell

  10. Idiom • An expression where the literal meaning of the words is not the meaning of the expression. It means something other what it actually says.(It’s raining cats and dog)

  11. Consonance • The repeated consonant sounds can be anywhere in the words.
