  2. Outline - IDAS • Uses and Capabilities • How it Works • Where to Get it • Where to Get Support and Training • Future Plans

  3. What Is IDAS?A Tool that: • allows the estimation of transportation impacts resulting from ITS deployments • is consistent with current planning analyses • uses output from existing regional transportation travel demand models • determines the transportation impacts of ITS • deployment costs, travel time, safety, emissions, etc. • monetary equivalents

  4. Who Is IDAS Designed For? • Transportation planners • ITS professionals • Systems operators, Others Those who need to assess the costs and benefits of deploying ITS

  5. What Do I Need to Use IDAS? • Knowledge of Travel Demand Forecasting • Knowledge of ITS • Travel demand model files • Node coordinates, network links, matrix data (e.g., trip tables) • Alternative ITS deployments for comparison

  6. Travel Demand ForecastingOverview – 4-Step Approach • Trip Generation • Trip Distribution • Mode Choice • Traffic Assignment
