  3. 2009 Kaohsiung On July 16, 2009, The Eighth World Games get under way with the Opening Ceremony at the newly built 50,000-capacity stadium in Kaohsiung (TPE). Over a period of eleven days, through July 26, all eyes are on sportsmen and women who pursue their dreams of ‘faster, higher, stronger’, and who rejoice in the atmosphere of unity and friendship.
