Goals of CHMPR @ UMBC • Advance the computational and service training of university students, faculty and partners in multicore technologies. • Establish UMBC as world-wide center of competence in hybrid multicore computing education. • Create forum for active engagements between industry and academia to shape future developments in hybrid multicore technologies. • Provide internship and career opportunities for students to engage with industry and government in projects of relevance to the environment, aerospace, business intelligence, medical research and situational awareness of extreme events.

  6. New Initiatives • Implemented an NSF Rapid proposal to improve oil spill predictions in the Gulf of Mexico using social media data. Submitted an NSF multi-university proposal to develop a Framework for Information Research to Mitigate Extreme Events. • Implementing a dedicated open CHMPR Distributed Cloud Computing Prototyping Testbed to support Situation Awareness, CORBI and CHMPR research projects. • Health IT: Genomic Algorithms for Clinical Decision Support System for Personalized Medicine.
