  5. NAOSH 2012: Sunday, May 6th - Saturday, May 12th • North American Occupational Safety and Health Week, or NAOSH Week, occurs every year during the first full week of May. Occupational Safety and Health Professional Day (OSHP Day) falls on the Wednesday of that week. • ASSE urges everyone to get involved in NAOSH Week in an effort to better educate the public about the positive benefits a safe workplace provides not only for workers, but for their families, friends, businesses, their local communities and the global community. This Week The mission of NAOSH Week is to increase awareness of the importance of occupational safety and health to working men and women around the world.

  7. 2011 Oregon Safety Professional Worksite Grant • This $2000 grant supports projects or activities that will improve workplace health and safety programs for Oregon workers. • Grant Requirements: • 1) may be new or an extension of an existing activity or program; • 2) must focus on an Oregon workplace; • 3) must include a credible project evaluation; • 4) must be innovative; and • 5) must have the potential to be implemented in other workplaces and industries. • Details and application at: http://www.ohsu.edu/xd/research/centers-institutes/croet/outreach/croet-oregon-worksite-awards.cfm. • Applicants must be an Oregon ASSE member in good standing. • Applications are due by June 30th, 2012. • If you have questions with the application process, please send an email to • asse-croet@comcast.net and request assistance. Chapter SPY Nominations Due • Chapter Safety Professional of the Year (SPY) Award is a long established annual award, intended to recognize a deserving Columbia-Willamette Chapter member for outstanding leadership and service in the Safety Profession. • Clark Vermillion, Awards Chairman, is asking for help in identifying eligible members. • The form with the guidelines and procedures for submitting your nominee to Clark and his committee can be found at http://assecwc.org/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/Chapter-SPY-2012.doc. • The form and any documentation must be submitted by May1, 2012 via email at Clark.vermillion@gmail.com. • The recipient will be announced at the Officer Installation Dinner June 15th.
