  3. Government of Washington • Our governor is Jay Inslee • Jay Inslee became the 23rd governor of Washington in 2013 • Jay Inslee was in the house of Represenitves from 1989-1993

  4. Symbols of Washington State • Washington’s State flower is the Coast Rhododendron • Washington’s state bird is a willow goldfinch • Washington’s State tree is the Western Hemlock

  5. Interesting Facts about Washington • Washington is the only state to be named after a president • The highest place in Washington is Mt. Rainer which is 14,410 feet above sea level • Washington state dance is square dance

  6. Location of Everett • Everett is in Washington • Everett is northwest of Washington • Marysville is north of Everett

County of Everett • Everett is the county seat of and the largest city in Snohomish County, Washington • With an estimated population of 801,633 Snohomish county is the third most populous county in Washington • Snohomish county was created out of an island county on January 14, 1861 and is named for the Snohomish tribe

  8. History of Everett • Everett was surrendered to the United States by the people who were living there in 1855 • Everett is named after Everett Colby, son of founder Charles L. Colby • Everett received an All-American award in 2002

  9. What Everett is Known for • Everett is known for its largest building the Boeing Plant. • Everett is known for the home to the largest marina in the west coast • Everett was selected as the site of the U.S. Navy Homeport, Naval Station Everett in 1984

The gallery displays art works from local regional international artist. • The Evergreen Arboretum & Gardens is a natural highlight that shows the ecological beauty of the Northwest region plants and flowers. • The Imagine Children’s Museum is a highly rated museum in Everett that helps child development through playing and interacting.

Interesting Facts about Everett • In 1984 Everett was selected as the site of the U.S. Navy Homeport • Forest Park is the oldest park in Everett the park is heavily wooded with trails, playgroundsand public swimming pools • Jetty Island is a man-made Island and park located just off the Everett waterfront

Everett, WA Jetty Island • Jetty Island is a man-made island that is two miles long and a half mile wide and approximately 1,800 acres • Jetty Island has no plumbing, electricity or structures only a floating bathroom off the island’s shore • During the summer months a small fairy boat becomes optional to allow access to and from the island
