  4. Areas to be covered • Self-Defense Tactics & Tips • Women’s Safety Tips • Domestic Violence • Purse Snatching • Car Jacking • Stalkers • Assaults (Physical & Sexual) • Awareness

  5. Safety Tips for Anyone • What to carry on key chain • Whistle • OC Spray • Kubaton • Know how to use • Know when to use

  6. Defense in or from a vehicle • Personal Vehicle: • Doors locked • Lower window down slightly • Sound HORN • Cell/Trac Phone • Plan trips ahead/know where you are going

  7. Getting Help from Strangers • Not like it used to be • Kitty Genovese story • Take the ride vs. stay with the car • If needed, use direct commands • Use specific instructions (“You in the red jacket, call 911”) • Be loud and clear!!

  8. Physical Confrontation • If it is necessary, be • Swift • Violent (Loud & Hard) • Targeted • Vulnerable areas: • Eyes • Knees • Groin • Throat

  9. Before the attack… • Am I being followed? • Direct eye contact • Do I need to be where I am? (a/k/a bad neighborhoods, poor route planning or timing)
