  1. Dimensioning Pt. 2

  2. Drawing Scale • A scale is a proportional representation of an object. • The scale of a drawing should be near the title • If there are multiple views with different scales, the scale should be placed as close to the view as possible • Scale can be given as 1:1, 1:2, and so on for objects that are being scaled down • Scale can be given as 2:1, 4:1, and so on to show objects that are scaled up

  3. Finish Mark • A surface texture symbol that shows a surface is to be machined or finished

  4. Datums • Datums are points, lines, and surfaces that are assumed to be exact.

  5. Dimensioning rounds, fillets, and frustums • Rounds and fillets are dimensioned using a radius (R) • Frustums (truncated cone) can be dimensioned using two dimension lines in a single view

  6. Chamfers, Tapers, an Curves • Chamfers are angled corners or bevels and are dimensioned using the degree and distance of the corner • Tapers can be dimensioned by giving the length, one diameter, and the taper as a ratio • Curves is made up of arcs and is dimensioned by the radii that have centers located by points of tangency
