Must have: a lot of good adjectives (Will increase the size of the paragraph) A good flow of ideas that connect with each sentence Adjective: word that describes a noun MY STREET

MY STREET 2 • Pick six neighbors (imaginary) • Make up weird names that will fit their personalities • Are they: crazy, noisy, bad, kind, criminal, old, young, punks, gothic, , cranky, smart, holy, quiet, music loving, loud, or any others you can think of? • Write a paragraph for each one. • Each one must have a name and a history to explain how they fit into the neighborhood. • Must have vivid descriptions, using adjectives that present a picture to your reader

  4. My Street • Return to My Street Essay • Plan out rewriting of essay • 1 paragraph at a time • Use 10 of the new words in the essay • Each paragraph will have some new words • Skip a line between each paragraph • Show to peers to find out if word defines meaning of the neighbor

  5. Only use the word neighbor in 1st paragraph about the street • New words will tell what the each paragraph will be about.

  6. My Street 4 • When story is finished with strong adjectives, students will change it into free style poem form as per example. • Print out poem and decorate in color drawings. • Show example of crazy neighbors and a house from the poem.

  7. Show sample of poem • Eliminate unnecessary words • Write each verse (7x4) 1st draft • Rewrite after revise and edit • Publish
