What does EnglandNet offer us? • Single product record maintained by the provider or his local agent • Accessed by all organisations in the tourism family – TIC, District, County, Region, ETC, Marketing England, BTA • Consolidated product database to encourage new marketing opportunities and distribution deals • Reduce data duplication, increase marketing effectiveness and improve business performance

  4. The work programme • Regional Planning Guide - produced by EnglandNet in July 2002 • 4 broad task areas: • Planning & Design • Requirements Definition & Testing • Operations • Regional Animation

Planning & Design • Regional Project Management • Develop a Regional Project & Resource Plan • Management of RTB requirements/activities • Develop regional contracts • Project communications • Plan communications strategy & kick off meeting • Manage and co-ordinate DMO requirements • Regional DMO survey • Local Technical Architecture design • Design regional technical architecture to support interoperability

Requirements Definition & Testing • User group input and review • Trade website, CMS/portal, Consumer portal, Statistics & reporting tools, Meta Data/XML content, XML standards, EXS for e-commerce • Regional System & User Testing • Community building – Trade and Consumer portals • Content Management System – core & enhanced • E-commerce facilities • Pathfinder Project • Integra Interoperability – Cheltenham, Bath/Bristol, and Bournemouth

Operations • TIC (ENTICE) rollout & Training • Regional set up and content generation • TIC training • ENTICE Roll out • Non DMS Destination data capture • ASP based DMS(s) Marketed to “non DMS” areas • Establish Support Arrangements • Regional System Administration and Support • Modernisation of TIC Services (Capital Modernisation Fund 3)

Regional Animation project Educate DMO’s and tourism providers about the practicalities and benefits of e-business and e-commerce. • Part funded by SBS • Destinations – workshops, seminars & best practice sharing etc • Businesses – animation through existing agencies, Business Link and UK Online for Business etc

Timeline – key dates Regional project started in September 2002 – though EnglandNet started in April 2002 • October 2002: Rollout plan, Usage Scenarios, Product data Interoperability Standards, RTB VPN, Pathfinder projects commence • Nov/Dec: DMO audit, model contracts, business modelling • February 2003: CMS, Consumer and Trade communities – Build and test (commercial release April -July),Data interoperability testing (Feb – July) • April 2003: National website built, live functionality rollout • E-commerce: developed in 2003 – rolled out end 2003 start 2004
