  3. Date and Location • The PRAGMA 19 workshop will be held by Jilin University, from Sep 13 to Sep 152010, in Changchun City, China. • Jilin University became an official member of PRAGMA in PRAMGA 9 in 2005. (We are thinking about the possibility to host PRAMGA 29 in 2015 as well. )

  4. Jilin University • Jilin University (JLU), founded in 1946, is a leading national key university under the direct jurisdiction of China's Ministry of Education. (Top ten in Mainland) • Located in Changchun, the capital city of Jilin Province in Northeastern China. • JLU is the largest university of China. • It has eight campuses in five districts, (Changchun City is located in the campus of Jilin University) • thirty-nine colleges covering eleven academic disciplines, including philosophy, economics, law, literature, education, history, science, engineering, agriculture, medicine, and management; • offers a variety of degree programs. It has now 115 undergraduate programs, 192master's degree program, 105 doctoral degree programs; • has more than60,000 full-time students, 17,000 graduate students, • about 5,700 faculty members.

  5. Changchun City Changchun Beijing Changchun city is the capital city of Jilin Province, located in the center of North East of China

Changchun City • Changchun is a young city with pop-history background to make it interesting. • Between 1932 and 1945, Changchun was chosen as the capital of Japanese-controlled Manchukuo (Manzhou Guo) and home to puppet ruler Henry Puyi, the final Qing emperor best known to Westerners as the subject of Bernardo Bertolucci's lush biopic The Last Emperor. • The “last Emperor”, Pu Yi, lived in a palace in Changchun for some years after the Japanese occupation, and his palace (Puppet Emperor Palace)today remains the most well-known tourist attraction in the city.

  7. Changchun City • The metropolitan area is 286 square km. • The population in metropolitan area is 4.87million. Changchun also has over 0.3million foreingers. • Although Changchun literally means “Long Spring”, this actually has no relation to reality. Spring and Autumn in the city tend to be very short. Summer last from June to September while the long winter starts in November and finally finishes in April.

Changchun City • Changchun is the China’s Detroit, has the most advanced auto industry in China. • First Automobile Work of China, FAW. • Changchun is the China’s Hollywood, the first movie of China was born in Changchun. • The Changchun Film Studio is the biggest comprehensive film making and production base of China, honored as  "The Cradle of Film of New China". • Changchun is called the “Forest City”, it has the biggest artificial forest of Asia (Moon Lake Park) and there are many trees in the city area. • Changchun is a “Culture City” as well, has 32 colleges and more than 1million college students.

  9. Agenda • PRAGMA 19 Workshop Dates : Sept.13-15 2010. • Program (tentative)

  10. IEEE FCST 2010 PRAGMA workshop • FCST 2010, hold by JLU, is the5th International Conference on Frontier of Computer Science and Technology. (http://ccst.jlu.edu.cn/fcst/) • The topics of the conference would focus on grid computing & HPC and also include other relevant topics like bioinformatics & Computer Network Security etc. • The proceedings will be published by IEEE Computer Society CPS. The selected best papers will be published in special issues of international journals (Indexed by EI or SCI-E) • The number of papers submitted to main conference exceeds 270. • The main conference is on August 18-22, two weeks before the PRAGMA 19. The FCST2010 PRAGMA workshop will be held on Sep. 13 just before PRAMGA 19. • We encourage PRAGMA members to submit papers about their recent research work. (To Wilfred Li) • In the 4th IEEE International e-science Conference, 2008, there was a special session for PRAGMAcommunity. We feel this will be another opportunity for the PRAGMA community to publish results about its activities.

  11. Venue & Facility • Venue • The conference venue will be in the main building of the College of Computer Science and Technology; • Located in the South Campus of JLU; • Transport from Hotel to Venue will be provided by JLU.

Venue & Facility • Rooms • One big conference room that can hold 250 persons; • One medium conference room that can hold 120 persons; • Several small rooms that can hold 20-30 persons. • Facilities • All the rooms offer projectors • The bigger rooms providemicrophone • The building provides high speed internet access via wiring and wireless • The JLU Network Center will provide free internet access account to attendees during the conference

  14. Venue & Facility • Located in the same building • 40Tflops • ≈4000 core • ≥600 cpu • Intel new released Westmere 6C cpu (32nm / 12M cache) • 40G QDR Infiniband network connection • Provide part of resources to PRAGMA • JLU New HPC Center will be ready by PRAGMA19

Accommodation • There are several nice hotels (Five and Four stars)in Changchun. • Good condition • With internet access • Good Food (both Chinese and international style ) • Lunches, banquets and coffee breaks during the workshop will be provided for all participants. • The transport from the hotels to the conference venue will be provided.

  16. Social Activities • Everyone have the chance to get free gifts from the artists • Chinese Calligraphy or Paintings Performance

Sight Seeing • Changbai Mountain (Heavenly Lake – Tianchi) • Located in southern Jilin Province, Changbai Mountain is one of China's famous nature preservation zones. • Tianchi, 2155 meters above sea level, and 313 meters deep at maximum, encompasses an area of 9.2 square kilometers. The lake is the crater of a volcano, filled with blue waters, known as "The Heavenly Lake".

Budget • We will try and attract sponsorship funding from Jilin University and some organizations and government agencies. • We will cover the followings: • Welcome banquet, farewell banquet, invited dinner; • lunch, tea breaks; • Transport between hotel and venue; • Support for some committee members; • Try our best to cover part of the sight seeing cost (cannot guarantee for now).
