  9. Pit Short for “orchestra pit” Where the band/orchestra sits to play music for the show (out of sight from the audience)

  10. Pit Safety When on stage, be aware of your surroundings at ALL times! Never, EVER jump into the pit or onto the mat!

  11. Catwalk

  12. Catwalk Lights are anchored on the catwalk, pointed at the stages Lights are covered with gels (a thin piece of colored film) in order to soften the harsh white light Lights and positioning can be adjusted from the catwalk

  13. Catwalk Safety Always ask for permission before going up on the catwalk When on the catwalk, do not adjust the lights or gels without permission When on the catwalk, be extremely careful!

  14. Prop Cabinets

  15. Prop Cabinets • Cabinets hold props • Short for “property” • Anything that an actor handles onstage • Can include furniture • When you use a prop, always return it to the location where you got it

  18. Fly Space and Fly System • Fly space • The area above the stage where lights and scenery may be “flown” (held up on ropes) • Ropes and pulleys control the fly system • Do not touch the fly system without permission!

  20. Lobby The area of a theatre where the audience gathers before and after performances and during breaks Restrooms and refreshments are located in the lobby

  22. Ticket Window Guests can purchase tickets and refreshments at the ticket window

  23. Tech Booth

  24. Tech Booth • Contains the controls for lights and sound • Light board • Microphones, handheld and wireless • Tech booth also contains spotlight • When working in the tech booth, you will wear all black
