  1. Term 1 • Limited Government Government is restricted in what it can do & rights that cannot be taken away.

  4. Term 4 • Petition of Right Limited power of the King by no longer imprison or punishing anyone without being judge by ones peers.

  5. Term 6 • Charter Written grant of authority from the king.

  6. Term 7 • Bicameral Legislative body composed of two chambers.

  7. Term 8 • Proprietary A person whom the king had made a grant of land.

  8. Term 9 • Unicameral Legislature body with one chamber.

  9. Term 10 • Confederation Joining of several groups for a common purpose.

  10. Term 11 • Albany Plan Tried to unite the 13 colonies for trade and military purposes.

  11. Term 12 • Delegates Representatives.

  12. Term 13 • Boycott A refusal to buy or sell certain products or services.

  13. Term 14 • Repealed Recalled (taxation)

  14. Term 15 • Popular Sovereignty Government can exist only with the consent of the governed.

  15. Term 16 • Articles of Confederation Established friendship among states, but gave little power to the central government.

  16. Term 17 • Ratification Approval.

  17. Term 18 • Framers Delegates who attended the Philadelphia Convention.

  18. Term 19 • Virginia Plan Called for a 3 branch govt., bicameral legislature, each State’s membership would be determined by its population.

  19. Term 20 • New Jersey Plan Called for a unicameral legislature which each State would be equally represented.

  20. Term 21 • Connecticut Compromise Congress should be represented equally. One House which representation would be based on a State’s population.

  21. Term 22 • Three-Fifths Compromise Counted a slave as three-fifths of a person when determining the population of a state.

  22. Term 23 • Federalists Individuals who favored the ratification Constitution.

  23. Term 24 • Anti-Federalists Individuals who did not favor the ratification of the Constitution.

  24. Term 25 • Quorum A majority.
